Subject: Numbers of pigs and cattle in the EU 15 and the 10 accession countries
To enable me to answer a question from a constituent, would the Commission please tell me the number of pigs and cattle (no further breakdown required) in the 15 EU Member States and the 10 accession countries?

At the December 2002 survey total cattle herd accounted for 78 281 022 heads in the EU-15 and 10 280 171 heads in the 10 Acceding Countries. Total pig herd accounted for 122 015 941 heads in the EU-15 and 32 222 296 heads in the 10 Acceding Countries.
