COUNCIL JOINT ACTION 2005/143/CFSP

of 17 February 2005

amending Joint Action 2002/210/CFSP on the European Union Police Mission

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union and, in particular, Articles 14 and 25(3) thereof,

Whereas:

(1)

On 11 March 2002 the Council adopted Joint Action 2002/210/CFSP (1) establishing a European Union Police Mission (EUPM) in order to ensure the follow-on to the United Nations International Police Task Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina as from 1 January 2003.

(2)

The Political and Security Committee should be authorised to take the relevant decisions on the setting-up of a Committee of Contributors for the EUPM, in line with the document on ‘Consultations and Modalities for the Contribution of non-EU States to EU Civilian Crisis Management’ approved by the Council on 10 December 2002.

(3)

Joint Action 2002/210/CFSP should be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS JOINT ACTION:

Article 1

The following paragraph shall be added to Article 8 of Joint Action 2002/210/CFSP:

‘4.   The Political and Security Committee shall take the relevant decisions on the setting-up of a Committee of Contributors.’

Article 2

This Joint Action shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.

Article 3

This Joint Action shall be published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
