    DECISION No 3/2014 OF THE ACP-EU COMMITTEE OF AMBASSADORS

    of 23 October 2014

    on the renewal of the appointment of the Director of the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA)

    THE ACP-EU COMMITTEE OF AMBASSADORS,

    Having regard to the Partnership Agreement between the members of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States of the one part, and the European Community and its Member States, of the other part, signed in Cotonou on 23 June 2000 (1), as first amended in Luxembourg on 25 June 2005 (2) and as amended for the second time in Ouagadougou on 22 June 2010 (3), and in particular Article 3(5) of Annex III thereto,

    Having regard to Decision No 5/2013 of the ACP-EU Committee of Ambassadors of 7 November 2013 on the Statutes of Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) (4), and in particular Article 7(1) of those Statutes,

    Whereas:

    (1)

    With its Decision No 2/2010 of 19 March 2010, the ACP-EU Committee of Ambassadors appointed Mr Michael HAILU as Director of the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) for a term of five years, that is to expire on 28 February 2015;

    (2)

    Pursuant to Article 7(1) of the Statutes of the CTA, upon the recommendation of the Executive Board, on the basis of outstanding performance, the Committee of Ambassadors may, under exceptional circumstances, renew the appointment of the Director for a maximum period of five years;

    (3)

    On 3 April 2014 the Executive Board of the CTA gave its recommendation for the renewal of the appointment of Mr HAILU;

    (4)

    During its session from 16 to 18 June 2014, the ACP Council of Ministers approved the renewal of the Director's contract for a second term of five years;

    (5)

    Therefore, it is appropriate to renew the appointment of Mr HAILU for a period of five years,

    HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

    Sole Article

    Without prejudice to any subsequent decisions that the Committee might have to take under its prerogatives, the appointment of Mr Michael HAILU (Ethiopia) is hereby renewed as Director of the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation with effect from 1 March 2015 until 29 February 2020.
