- Initiative summary:
- By signing the Code of Practice on Disinformation in 2018, online platforms and other stakeholders committed to tackle false and misleading content. It led to changes in the platform's terms of service to limit the disinformation and stronger collaboration with fact-checkers. However, its assessment found inconsistences in application and gaps in coverage of the Code’s commitments, calling for more uniform definitions. Hence, the Commission will issue guidance on how to improve the Code.
