Mercury-added products prohibited to be exported, imported and manufactured in the EU
Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2049 of 14 July 2023 amending Regulation (EU) 2017/852 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards mercury-added products subject to manufacturing, import and export prohibitions (Text with EEA relevance)
The Commission intends to extend the list of mercury-added products that are prohibited to be exported, imported and manufactured in the EU, as from 1 January 2026. This will align EU legislation with the Minamata Convention on Mercury and lead to a global cessation of the use of mercury in the concerned products, hence contributing further to the protection of the environment and human health worldwide. It will also provide for a level playing field for the EU lamp producers.
