- Under the EU’s common fisheries policy, the Commission negotiates and implements sustainable fisheries partnership agreements with non-EU countries. These agreements allow EU vessels to fish for surplus stocks in the exclusive economic zone of the partner country. This initiative aims for the Commission to obtain a mandate to renew, upon its upcoming expiry, the implementing protocol to the agreement between the EU and The Gambia.
