Proposal for a Council Decision on the conclusion of the protocol to the fourth ACP-EC Convention of Lomé following the accession of Austria, Finland and Sweden to the European Union (96/C 331/07) COM(96) 447 final - 96/0225(AVC)

(Submitted by the Commission on 18 September 1996) THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Community, particularly Article 238 thereof in conjunction with the second sentence of Article 228 (2) and the second subparagraph of Article 228 (3),

Having regard to the Commission proposal,

Having regard to the assent of Parliament,

Whereas the Protocol to the fourth ACP-EC Convention should be approved following the accession of Austria, Finland and Sweden to the European Union,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

The Protocol to the fourth ACP-EC Convention following the accession of Austria, Finland and Sweden to the European Union is hereby approved on behalf of the European Community. The text of the Protocol is attached to this Decision.

Article 2

The President of the Council acting on behalf of the European Community, shall initiate the notification procedure set out in Article 5 of the Protocol.
