Initiative summary:
This initiative aims at accelerating the uptake of sustainable alternative in maritime transport as well as in European ports by providing a framework for increased demand of low or zero-carbon fuels. It will address existing market barriers hampering their use and the uncertainty on the maturity of technical options. It is part of a series of concrete measures that will be developed to bring the maritime sector in line with the European ambition of climate-neutrality by 2050.
