Initiative summary:
The main objective of the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (Directive 91/271/EEC) is to protect the environment from adverse effects of waste water discharges from urban areas and certain industrial sectors. This evaluation will assess the effectiveness, efficiency, coherence, relevance and EU added value of the Directive since its entry into force 25 years ago. It may identify areas where simplifications or improvements to the legislation or implementation are needed.
