EU Delivery Act
Legislative initiative (“EU Delivery Act”) to replace Directive 97/67/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 December 1997 on common rules for the development of the internal market of Community postal services and the improvement of quality of service, as amended by Directive 2002/39/EC and Directive 2008/6/EC, and Regulation (EU) 2018/644 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 April 2018 on cross-border parcel delivery services
- Initiative summary:
- The Single Market Strategy (COM(2025) 500 final), adopted on 21 May 2025, proposes a new EU Delivery Act, to replace the Postal Services Directive and the Cross-border Parcels Regulation in Q4 2026. A reform of the EU postal regulatory framework will focus on delivery as a service and will ensure citizens and businesses can receive deliveries throughout the EU at affordable prices, while promoting fair competition on delivery markets and increasing consumer protection.
