COMMUNICATION FROM THE COMMISSION TO THE COUNCIL, THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COMMITTEE On 3 May 2002, the Commission adopted a proposal for a Council Regulation concerning jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in matrimonial matters and in matters of parental responsibility (COM(2002) 222). This proposal incorporates the provisions of the previous Commission proposal of 6 September 2001 for a Council regulation on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in matters of parental responsibility (COM(2001) 505 final) [1]. For this reason, the Commission has decided to formally withdraw its proposal of 6 September 2001. [1] OJ C 332 of 27.11.2001, p 269. Commissioner Vitorino on behalf of the Commission
