EU countries are expected to facilitate the full interoperability of energy services within the EU in order to promote competition and avoid excessive administrative costs. The Electricity Directive requires the Commission to adopt interoperability requirements and non-discriminatory and transparent procedures for access to metering and consumption data, as well as data required for customer switching, demand response and other services. This initiative will address data for customer switching.
