Decision on the proposal for a Council Decision on the conclusion of the protocol to the fourth ACP-EC Convention of Lomé following the accession of Austria, Finland and Sweden to the European Union (COM(96)0447 - C4-0003/97 - 96/0225(AVC))

(Assent procedure)

The European Parliament,

- having regard to the proposal for a Council Decision on the conclusion of the protocol to the fourth ACP-EC Convention of Lomé following the accession of Austria, Finland and Sweden to the European Union (COM(96)0447 - 96/0225(AVC)),

- having regard to the Council's request for Parliament's assent pursuant to Article 238, in conjunction with Article 228(2), second sentence, and Article 228(3), second subparagraph, of the EC Treaty (C4-0003/97),

- having regard to Rule 90(7) of its Rules of Procedure,

- having regard to the recommendation of the Committee on Development and Cooperation (A4-0008/97),

1. Gives its assent to the conclusion of the protocol;

2. Instructs its President to forward this decision to the Council, the Commission, the ACP-EU Council of Ministers and the governments and parliaments of Austria, Finland and Sweden.
