Official Journal C 045 , 10/02/1998 P. 0109
WRITTEN QUESTION E-1823/97 by Carmen Díez de Rivera Icaza (PSE) to the Commission (28 May 1997) Subject: Tissue for transplants The reply given by Mr Flynn to my written question no E-1126/97 ((OJ C 319, 18.10.1997, p. 233. )) is not satisfactory, since it does not answer the points raised. Does the Commission intend, in the near future, to establish a system for registering the checks carried out to monitor the origin and destination of tissue obtained for transplants where such tissue comes from any of the Member States? Answer given by Mr Flynn on behalf of the Commission (27 June 1997) The Commission has no plans to make proposals with regard to the establishment of a register for the traceability of the origin and destination of human tissues. This is the responsibility of the organisations involved in organ transplantation and tissue typing and of the authorities in the Member States.
