Decision 2004/448/EC should read as follows:
COMMISSION DECISION
of 29 April 2004
amending Decision 2004/233/EC as regards the list of approved laboratories for checking the effectiveness of vaccination against rabies in certain domestic carnivores

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,
Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Community,
Having regard to the Treaty of accession of the Czech Republic, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia and in particular Article 2(3) thereof,
Having regard to the Act of Accession of the Czech Republic, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia, and in particular Article 57 thereof,
Having regard to Council Decision 2000/258/EC of 20 March 2000 designating a specific institute responsible for establishing the criteria necessary for standardising the serological tests to monitor the effectiveness of rabies vaccines (1), and in particular Article 3 thereof,
Whereas:

Decision 2000/258/EC has designated the AFSSA Laboratory, Nancy, France as the institute responsible for the proficiency tests necessary to the approval of the laboratories willing to perform those tests. |
(2) |
Commission Decision 2004/233/EC authorising laboratories to check the effectiveness of vaccination against rabies in certain domestic carnivores (2), has established a list of approved laboratories in the Member States on the ground of the results of the proficiency tests communicated by AFSSA Nancy. |
(3) |
Two laboratories, respectively in Slovakia and Slovenia, had been approved by AFSSA Laboratory, Nancy in compliance with the procedure applying to third countries as laid down in Decision 2000/258/EC. |
(4) |
It is appropriate to add those two laboratories to the list of approved laboratories in the Member States as established in Annex to Decision 2004/233/EC. |
(5) |
In addition, following the request of Germany and on the basis of the favourable result of the proficiency test performed by AFSSA Nancy, a new laboratory is added to the list of approved laboratories for Germany. |
(6) |
The measures provided for in this Decision are in accordance with the opinion of the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
Annex I to Decision 2004/233/EC is replaced by the Annex to this Decision.
Article 2
This Decision shall apply subject to and from the date of the entry into force of the Treaty of Accession of the Czech Republic, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia.
Article 3
This Decision is addressed to the Member States.
