Initiative summary:
Today, sport is more than leisure or entertainment, contributing to public health, education, inclusion, European integration, and competitiveness. With these collective societal benefits, sport is seen as a public good and increasingly valuable European asset in economic, social, political and cultural terms. To ensure citizens access these advantages, proactive measures must be taken to strengthen, safeguard and promote the distinct way that sport is organised in Europe (European Sport Model).
