- Initiative summary:
- Based on new scientific evidence, the EU rules on the welfare of animals during transport will be revised to improve welfare of animals and ensure fair competition for business operators. New measures will target fitness for transport, watering and feeding intervals, journey times and resting periods, space allowance, means of transport, transport conditions, and exports to third countries. The Regulation will simplify the current rules and contribute to a sustainable food system.
