Withdrawal of notification pursuant to Article 95(4) and (5) of the EC Treaty (Notification No 2003/A/9171 - Request for authorisation to introduce national provisions derogating from a Community harmonisation measure) (2004/C 74/05) (Text with EEA relevance) By letter of 23 September 2003, the Republic of Austria notified to the Commission the regional provisions concerning the Land of Salzburg's law on the banning of genetic engineering that it deemed necessary to introduce by way of derogation from Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms(1). On 19 November 2003 the Commission published a notice in the Official Journal of the European Union informing the interested parties of the measure that Austria planned to adopt(2).
