3.   Maternal Mortality

Mr Gianfranco Rotigliano, Director of UNICEF’s Regional Office for West and Central Africa, gave an introductory presentation on the Millennium Development Goals and the outcome of the New York High Level Conference.

Ms Licia Ronzulli and Mr Odirile Motlhale (Botswana) presented their report on ‘Achieving the MDGs: innovative responses to meet the social and economic challenges’.

Ms Brenda King, Chair of the ACP Committee of the European Economic and Social Committee, made a presentation.

Ms King responded to the points raised during the debate.

Mr Lambert Mende (Minister of Communication and Media of the DRC) made a presentation on the situation in the DRC and the region of Central Africa.
