    COUNCIL DECISION

    of 11 May 2015

    appointing 15 members of the Management Board of the European Chemicals Agency

    THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

    Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,

    Having regard to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), establishing a European Chemicals Agency, amending Directive 1999/45/EC and repealing Council Regulation (EEC) No 793/93 and Commission Regulation (EC) No 1488/94 as well as Council Directive 76/769/EEC and Commission Directives 91/155/EEC, 93/67/EEC, 93/105/EC and 2000/21/EC (1), and in particular Article 79 thereof,

    Whereas:

    (1)

    Article 79 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 provides that the Council should appoint as Members of the Management Board of the European Chemicals Agency (‘the Management Board’) one representative from each Member State.

    (2)

    The Members of the Management Board should be appointed on the basis of their relevant experience and expertise in the field of chemical safety or the regulation of chemicals whilst also ensuring that relevant expertise is available amongst the Members of the Management Board in the fields of general, financial and legal matters.

    (3)

    The duration of the term of office should be 4 years. It should be possible to renew the term of office once.

    (4)

    By its Decision of 7 June 2007 (2), the Council appointed 27 Members of the Management Board.

    (5)

    The Members of the Management Board nominated by Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and the United Kingdom, were all appointed for a period ending on 31 May 2015. Members of the Management Board from these Member States should therefore be nominated and appointed for a period which commences on 1 June 2015 and runs until 31 May 2019.

    The Council has received nominations from all the Member States concerned,

    HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

    Article 1

    The following persons shall be appointed Members of the Management Board for a second term running from 1 June 2015 to 31 May 2019 (name, nationality, date of birth):

    Mr Henrik Søren LARSEN, Danish, 9 December 1961,

    Ms Aive TELLING, Estonian, 8 May 1974,

    Ms Kassandra DIMITRIOU, Greek, 30 June 1957,

    Mr Anastassios YIANNAKI, Cypriot, 27 September 1957,

    Ms Marija TERIOŠINA, Lithuanian, 4 November 1952,

    Ms Liliana Luminiţa TÎRCHILĂ, Romanian, 1 February 1960.

    Article 2

    The following persons shall be appointed Members of the Management Board for a first term running from 1 June 2015 to 31 May 2019 (name, nationality, date of birth):

    Ms Anne-France Marie RIHOUX, Belgian, 12 June 1964,

    Ms Parvoleta Angelova LULEVA, Bulgarian, 11 March 1966,

    Mr Jörg LEBSANFT, German, 31 August 1956,

    Ms Judīte DIPĀNE, Latvian, 10 April 1971,

    Mr Edward XUEREB, Maltese, 26 November 1963,

    Ms Lidia Longina WĄSOWICZ, Polish, 18 August 1953,

    Ms Ana Lília GOMES MARTINS, Portuguese, 20 August 1973,

    Ms Miroslava BAJANÍKOVÁ, Slovak, 12 April 1986,

    Mr Keith Anthony Trevor BAILEY, British, 2 June 1965.

    Article 3

    This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
