- Initiative summary:
- Demographic trends are putting a strain on the adequacy and financial sustainability of pension systems. The supplementary pension sector can be part of the solution. The Commission will review the EU frameworks for supplementary pensions along other measures to increase participation in supplementary pensions and old-age income, improve pension funds’ capacity to direct retail savings into productive investments, and enhance Members States’ monitoring of pension systems' adequacy.
