DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 69/2021
of 5 February 2021
amending Annex XIX (Consumer protection) to the EEA Agreement [2024/56]
THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,
Whereas:

(1) |
Directive (EU) 2019/2161 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2019 amending Council Directive 93/13/EEC and Directives 98/6/EC, 2005/29/EC and 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the better enforcement and modernisation of Union consumer protection rules (1) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement. |

Annex XIX to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
Annex XIX to the EEA Agreement shall be amended as follows:
1. The following is added in points 1a (Directive 98/6/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council) and 7g (Directive 2005/29/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council):

2. The following indent is added in points 7a (Council Directive 93/13/EEC) and 7i (Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council):

Article 2
The text of Directive (EU) 2019/2161 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union, shall be authentic.
Article 3
This Decision shall enter into force on 6 February 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made (*1).
Article 4
This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
