Initiative summary:
Commercial road transport vehicles circulating in the EU carrying goods or passengers have to meet the allowable weights and dimensions, set out in the Directive 96/53/EC, and the national legislation. This initiative will evaluate if the regulatory framework ensures smooth functioning of the internal market and improves environmental performance of these vehicles while safeguarding the road safety. On this basis, it will assess options to address the identified regulatory and market failures.
