Initiative summary:
Equality bodies promote equal treatment by assisting victims of discrimination, conducting independent surveys, publishing independent reports and making recommendations. They face challenges in their functioning as their mandate, powers, status, independence, resources and effectiveness vary widely across Member States. This initiative aims at strengthening equality bodies by setting minimum standards for their functioning in all grounds and fields covered by EU Equality Directives.
