Proposal for a Directive amending MiFID II and repealing Listing Directive
Proposal for a DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL amending Directive 2014/65/EU to make public capital markets in the Union more attractive for companies and to facilitate access to capital for small and medium-sized enterprises and repealing Directive 2001/34/EC
Initiative summary:
The public listing process is cumbersome and costly for EU companies, especially SMEs. This is deterring EU companies from raising funds in capital markets and leads to missing out on benefits related with public listing, such as increased growth and job creation. The Commission will put forward an initiative to simplify listing requirements in order to make public capital markets more attractive for EU companies.
