- Initiative summary:
- Biodiversity - the variety of life on Earth - underpins human wellbeing and is a condition of sustainable prosperity. Biodiversity is under immense pressure from human activities. This initiative will outline the EU ambition for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework to be adopted in October 2020 in Kunming, China. It will also put forward EU commitments to curtail biodiversity loss and to preserve and restore our ecosystems, so that the EU leads by example in the global negotiations.
