Statutory markings for two- or three-wheel motor vehicles
This Directive is aimed at approximating the laws of the Member States in the field of statutory markings applying to two- or three-wheel motor vehicles.

Directive 2009/139/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November 2009 on statutory markings for two- or three-wheel motor vehicles (Text with EEA relevance).
SUMMARY
This Directive defines the statutory markings which must appear on two- or three-wheel motor vehicles.
It concerns the following vehicles:
Requirements concerning statutory markings
All vehicles must receive a plate and markings affixed by the manufacturer or the authorised representative.
The data plate must contain the following information:
Two or three-wheel motor vehicles must have obtained EC type-approval in respect of the statutory markings before they can be placed on the market. The procedures for the granting of EC type-approval * are laid down by the Directive relating to EC type-approval procedures.
Member States may not prohibit the registration of vehicles which comply with this Directive.
This Directive repeals Directive 93/94/EC.
