Recommendation for strengthened actions against antimicrobial resistance
Initiative summary:
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is the ability of microorganisms, such as bacteria, to become increasingly resistant to antimicrobials, making them ineffective. AMR is a silent pandemic requiring urgent global action. The proposal aims at setting concrete objectives and activities to strengthen Member States action against AMR, mainly in the area of public health where the EU has only supporting and complementary competence.
