COMMISSION STAFF WORKING DOCUMENT EVALUATION of the Council Directive 2004/82/EC on the obligation of carriers to communicate passenger data (API Directive)
- Initiative summary:
- The Commission is launching an evaluation of the Advance Passenger Information (API) directive. Advance passenger information is transmitted by carriers to border control authorities allowing expedited checks for bona fide travellers. The evaluation will analyse the functioning of the Directive and will provide an overview of its implementation in all EU Member States/Schengen associated countries and of its effectiveness, efficiency, relevance, coherence and EU added value.
