- Initiative summary:
- Based on an evaluation of the overall EU legal migration policy and an implementation report published in 2019, the Commission considers that the EU rules on the single permit have not fully achieved their objective to simplify the admission procedures for all third-country workers. The objective of the recast would be to simplify and clarify its scope and to ensure a minimum harmonisation of admission and residence conditions for low and medium skilled workers.
