Notice inviting proposals for the designation of extraction areas for hydrocarbon production

The District Mining Office in Bratislava, in accordance with Section 24(4) of Act No 44/1998 Coll. on the protection and use of mineral resources (the Mining Act), as amended by Act No 498/1991 Coll. of the Slovak National Council, Act No 558/2001 Coll., Act No 203/2004 Coll., Act No 587/2004 Coll., Act No 479/2005 Coll. and Act No 219/2007 Coll., hereby gives notice that the Slovak Republic is launching, via the District Mining Office in Bratislava as the competent authority, a selection procedure for the designation/allocation of extraction areas for the exploitation of natural gas (deposits owned by the Slovak Republic), in accordance with Article 3(2)(a) of Directive 94/22/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 1994 on the conditions for granting and using authorizations for the prospection, exploration and production of hydrocarbons, and invites interested parties to submit proposals for the designation/allocation of the following extraction areas:

1.   Špačince — Bohunice deposit (deposit No 14)

Geographical coordinates are in decimal degrees and the geodetic system is WGS-84.

Proposals for the designation/allocation of the above-mentioned extraction areas, specifying the deposit and the corresponding extraction area, accompanied by information on the technical and financial potential for exploitation and on the possibility of solving conflicts of interest relating to the exploitation of the above-mentioned natural gas deposits, with evidence that the applicant holds the appropriate valid mining licence or a similar licence issued by a state that is a contracting party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, may be sent to the following address: Obvodný banský úrad v Bratislave, Prievozská 30, SK-821 05 Bratislava, in a sealed envelope marked ‘Návrh do výberového konania’ (Proposal for selection procedure), and indicating the name of the entity submitting the proposal.

Proposals must be received within 90 days following the date of publication of this notice in the Official Journal of the European Union .

A decision on the proposals will be taken not later than twelve months after this period has expired.

At the District Mining Office in Bratislava (Prievozská 30, SK-821 05 Bratislava), it is also possible to consult maps showing the boundaries of the above-mentioned extraction areas and to obtain a copy of the decision designating them as extraction areas.

The District Mining Office in Bratislava is the competent authority responsible for granting authorisation to exploit the deposits in the above-mentioned extraction areas. The criteria, conditions and requirements specified in Articles 5(1) and (2) and 6(2) of the Directive are set out in Act No 51/1988 Coll. of the Slovak National Council on mining activities, explosives and the State Mining Administration, as amended by Act No 499/1991 Coll. of the Slovak National Council, Act No 154/1995 Coll. of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Act No 58/1998 Coll. and Act No 533/2004 Coll.
