Information about the follow-up brought to the complaint registered under reference CHAP(2015) 227

(2015/C 233/08)

The European Commission has received a series of complaints about enforcement of the German Minimum Wage Act in the international transport sector (see Acknowledgement of receipt of complaint — Official Journal of the European Union C 86 of 13 March 2015, p. 16).

Following an exchange of information with the German authorities and a thorough legal assessment of the German measures, the European Commission decided on 19 May 2015 to launch an infringement procedure against Germany (1) concerning the application of the Minimum Wage Act to the transport sector. The German authorities now have two months to respond to the arguments put forward by the Commission, in the Letter of Formal Notice, which is the first step in the infringement procedure.
