DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE
No 177/2017
of 22 September 2017
amending Annex II (Technical regulations, standards, testing and certification) to the EEA Agreement [2019/1065]
THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (‘the EEA Agreement’), and in particular Article 98 thereof,
Whereas:

(1) |
Council Directive (EU) 2017/738 of 27 March 2017 amending, for the purpose of adapting to technical progress, Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the safety of toys, as regards lead (1) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement. |

(2) |
Commission Directive (EU) 2017/898 of 24 May 2017 amending, for the purpose of adopting specific limit values for chemicals used in toys, Appendix C to Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the safety of toys, as regards bisphenol A (2) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement. |

Annex II to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
The following indents are added in point 1a (Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council) of Chapter XXIII of Annex II to the EEA Agreement:

Article 2
The texts of Directives (EU) 2017/738 and (EU) 2017/898 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union, shall be authentic.
Article 3
This Decision shall enter into force on 23 September 2017, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made (*1).
Article 4
This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
