    Initiative summary:
    The existing EN 14540 standard for firehoses covers only firehoses with a diameter equal or less than 52 mm. In the framework of the Marine Equipment Directive, standards for firehoses with a diameter of more than 52 mm and for abrasion and leak testing are needed, in order to guarantee the safety of seagoing vessels.
