Decision of the EEA Joint Committee

No 42/2001

of 30 March 2001

amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 189/1999 of 17 December 1999(1).

(2) 5 acts regarding control matters and 13 acts regarding animal health - exchange and placing on the market of live animals - are to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) This Decision is not to apply to Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as specified in the Annex to this Decision.

Article 2

The texts of Commission Decisions 1999/489/EC(2), 1999/496/EC(3), 1999/512/EC(4), 1999/513/EC(5), 1999/521/EC(6), 1999/550/EC(7), 1999/556/EC(8), 1999/577/EC(9), 1999/700/EC(10), 1999/716/EC(11), 2000/126/EC(12), 2000/171/EC(13), 2000/172/EC(14), 2000/173/EC(15), 2000/174/EC(16), 2000/187/EC(17), 2000/188/EC(18) and 2000/287/EC(19) in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 31 March 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(20).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.

ANNEX

to Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 42/2001

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as specified below.

1. The following indent shall be added in point 12 (Commission Decision 92/486/EEC) in Part 1.2:

- 399 D 0716: Commission Decision 1999/716/EC of 19 October 1999 (OJ L 289, 11.11.1999, p. 1).

2. The following indents shall be added in point 39 (Commission Decision 97/778/EC) in Part 1.2:

- 399 D 0577: Commission Decision 1999/577/EC of 20 July 1999 (OJ L 219, 19.8.1999, p. 38),

- 399 D 0700: Commission Decision 1999/700/EC of 14 October 1999 (OJ L 276, 27.10.1999, p. 14),

- 32000 D 0126: Commission Decision 2000/126/EC of 31 January 2000 (OJ L 36, 11.2.2000, p. 30).

3. The text of the first paragraph of point 46 (Commission Decision 96/295/EC) in Part 1.2 shall be replaced by the following:

4. The text of point 7 (Commission Decision 92/538/EEC) in Part 4.2 shall be replaced by the following:

32000 D 0188: Commission Decision 2000/188/EC of 17 February 2000 concerning the status of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with regard to infectious haematopoietic necrosis and viral haemorrhagic septicaemia and repealing Decisions 92/538/EEC and 97/185/EC (OJ L 59, 4.3.2000, p. 17).

This act applies also to Iceland.

5. The following indent shall be added in point 17 (Commission Decision 93/74/EEC) in Part 4.2:

6. The following indents shall be added in point 29 (Commission Decision 95/124/EC) in Part 4.2:

7. The following indent shall be added in point 30 (Commission Decision 95/125/EC) in Part 4.2:

8. The following indents shall be added in point 39 (Commission Decision 95/473/EC) in Part 4.2:

12. The text of point 41 (Commission Decision 97/185/EC) in Part 4.2 under the heading "Acts of which the EFTA states and the EFTA surveillance authority shall take due account" shall be deleted.

13. The following point shall be inserted after point 46 (Commission Decision 1999/465/EC) in Part 4.2 under the heading "Acts of which the EFTA states and the EFTA surveillance authority shall take due account":

47. 32000 D 0174: Commission Decision 2000/174/EC of 16 February 2000 approving the programme concerning infectious haematopoietic necrosis and viral haemorrhagic septicaemia submitted by France for the farm Sources de la Fabrique (OJ L 55, 29.2.2000, p. 77).

This act applies also to Iceland.
