    Article 194

    Le nombre des membres du Comité économique et social est fixé ainsi qu'il suit:

    Belgique 12

    Danemark 9

    Allemagne 24

    Grèce 12

    Espagne 21

    France 24

    Irlande 9

    Italie 24

    Luxembourg 6

    Pays-Bas 12

    Portugal 12

    Royaume-Uni 24

    Les membres du Comité sont nommés, pour quatre ans, par le Conseil statuant à l'unanimité. Leur mandat est renouvelable.

    Les membres du Comité ne doivent être liés par aucun mandat impératif. Ils exercent leurs fonctions en pleine indépendance, dans l'intérêt général de la Communauté.

    Le Conseil, statuant à la majorité qualifiée, fixe les indemnités des membres du Comité.
