Resolution on the flooding in Romania

The European Parliament,

A. whereas floods have devastated several regions of Romania, destroying thousands of homes, roads, bridges and railway lines,

B. having regard to Romania's economic and social situation,

The European Parliament,

1. Calls on the Commission to grant special assistance to Romania in the form not only of financial aid but also of human resources to help with the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure;

2. Calls, to this end, for the implementation of a specific programme of cooperation with the Romanian authorities;

3. Instructs its President to forward this resolution to the Council, the Commission and the Romanian Government.
