Call for expression of interest for contract agents for temporary assignments (London)

(2012/C 305 A/01)

EMA/CA/S/031: Contract staff (short-term), Communications Sector, Directorate Unit (FG IV)

The Agency is responsible for coordinating the evaluation and supervision of medicinal products for human and veterinary use in the European Union (see Regulation (EC) No 726/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council (OJ L 136, 30.4.2004, p. 1)). The Agency was established in January 1995. It has many close contacts with the European Commission, 27 EU Member States, EEA-EFTA countries and many other groups in government and the private sector. The Agency is a stimulating multicultural working environment.

Further information on the Agency and its activities is readily accessible through the internet; our web address is http://www.ema.europa.eu

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) wishes to set up a roster of candidates interested to work for temporary assignments under the contract agent contract. The job profile is published in a separate document available on the Agency's website.

Selected candidates will be included on a reserve list and, depending on the budgetary situation, may be offered a temporary assignment which can range from three months to five years under the contract agent contract in accordance with the conditions of employment of other servants of the European Union (OJ L 56, 4.3.1968) (1), and EMA's general implementing provisions on the procedures governing the engagement and the use of contract staff at EMA.

A temporary assignment may include replacements of EMA temporary agents (for example maternity leave, paternity leave, family leave, parental leave, unpaid leave or long-term sickness) or to work on specific short-term projects. The contract agent contract can only lead to a temporary agent contract with the successful participation in an additional selection procedure. Contract agent contracts may not be renewed more than once.

The place of employment shall be Canary Wharf, London.

Candidates must be nationals of a Member State of the European Union, or of Iceland, Norway or Liechtenstein, on condition that they have full rights as a citizen.

Candidates must have fulfilled any obligations imposed on them by laws concerning military service and meet the character requirements for the duties involved.

The complete conditions and job description should be downloaded from the EMA website:

http://www.ema.europa.eu/htms/general/admin/recruit/recruitnew.htm

Applications have to be submitted electronically using the form available on the EMA website. The deadline for submission of application forms is 10 November 2012 at midnight.

Please note that due to the large numbers of applications the Agency may receive when reaching the deadline for submission of applications, the system may have problems to process the large amounts of data. Applicants are therefore advised to send in their application well ahead of the deadline.

If you wish to receive notification of vacancy publications electronically please register online for an RSS feed at http://www.ema.europa.eu/ under ‘RSS news feeds’.
