WRITTEN QUESTION P-0142/99 by Yves Verwaerde (PPE) to the Commission (27 January 1999) Subject: NGOs subsidised under the EU's external policy Will the Commission provide a list of the NGOs receiving Community subsidies which have taken part in electoral observation or training missions, in the course of the EU's external policy of encouraging the development of the democratic process? Answer given by Mr van den Broek on behalf of the Commission (11 February 1999) The information requested by the Honourable Member covers a whole range of Community instruments ranging from cooperation with non-member countries to specific headings for human rights and democracy in Chapter B7-70 of the budget. It would therefore take some time and considerable research to obtain this information and more precise details about the financial instruments or geographical area in question would facilitate this task.
