Maximum aid intensity

The gross aid intensity must not exceed:

50 % of eligible investments in regions eligible under Article 87(3)(a) of the EC Treaty,

40 % of eligible investments in other regions

Duration of the scheme or the individual aid

Open-ended. The aid scheme is, however, exempt from compulsory notification under Article 88(3) of the EC Treaty until 30 June 2008, when, unless it is extended, Regulation (EC) No 70/2001, as amended, expires

Objective of the aid

Aid to cooperative SMEs for investment projects in tangible fixed assets, to be implemented after the request for funding is submitted.

Eligible expenditure (net of VAT) to purchase land and buildings, carry out building works and to purchase, modernise and restructure machinery, equipment and facilities

Individual finance projects may not exceed EUR 2 million or 70 % of the eligible investment.

The aid granted covers the difference between the repayments at market rates and the repayments at the subsidised rate applicable under the scheme
