amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision No 189/1999 of the EEA Joint Committee of 17 December 1999(1).

(2) Commission Decision 1999/253/EC of 12 April 1999 on protective measures with regard to certain fishery products from or originating in Kenya and Tanzania(2), as corrected by OJ L 99, 14.4.1999, p. 31, is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(3) Commission Decision 1999/302/EC of 30 April 1999 amending Decision 94/360/EC on the reduced frequency of physical checks of consignments of certain products to be imported from third countries, pursuant to Council Directive 90/675/EEC(3) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(4) Commission Decision 1999/518/EC of 28 July 1999 amending Commission Decision 94/360/EC on the reduced frequency of physical checks of consignments of certain products to be imported from third countries, pursuant to Council Directive 90/675/EEC(4) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(5) Commission Decision 1999/609/EC of 10 September 1999 amending Commission Decision 94/360/EC concerning the reduced frequency of physical checks of consignments of certain products to be imported from third countries, under Council Directive 97/78/EC(5) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(6) Commission Decision 1999/766/EC of 28 July 1999 on certain protective measures in respect of infectious salmon anaemia in salmonids in Norway(6) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(7) Commission Decision 2000/127/EC of 31 January 2000 amending Commission Decision 1999/253/EC on protective measures with regard to certain fishery products from or originating in Kenya and Tanzania and amending the health certification for fishery products originating or proceeding from Tanzania(7) is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(8) This Decision is not to apply to Liechtenstein,

HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as specified in the Annex to this Decision.

Article 2

The texts of Commission Decisions 1999/253/EC, as corrected by OJ L 99, 14.4.1999, p. 31, 1999/302/EC, 1999/518/EC, 1999/609/EC, 1999/766/EC and 2000/127/EC in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Communities, shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 31 March 2001, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(8).

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Communities.

ANNEX

to Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 33/2001

Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as specified below.

1. The following indents shall be added in point 25 (Commission Decision 94/360/EC) in Part 1.2:

- 399 D 0302: Commission Decision 1999/302/EC of 30 April 1999 (OJ L 117, 5.5.1999, p. 58),

- 399 D 0518: Commission Decision 1999/518/EC of 28 July 1999 (OJ L 197, 29.7.1999, p. 50),

- 399 D 0609: Commission Decision 1999/609/EC of 10 September 1999 (OJ L 242, 14.9.1999, p. 28).

2. The following points shall be inserted after point 88 (Commission Decision 2000/208/EC) in Part 1.2:

This act applies also to Iceland.
