AGREEMENT in the form of an exchange of letters between the European Community and the Czech Republic concerning fish

    A. Letter from the Community

    Brussels, 22 September 1994.

    Sir,

    I refer to:

    - the Interim Agreement signed between the European Economic Community and the European Coal and Steel Community and the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic on 16 December 1991, as subsequently amended by the Supplementary Protocol signed between the European Community and the Czech Republic on 21 December 1993, and

    - the Europe Agreement signed between the European Communities and their Member States of the one part and the Czech Republic of the other part on 4 October 1993 and, in particular, the recommendation by the Joint Committee established by the Agreement on Trade and Commercial and Economic Cooperation signed between the European Economic Community and the European Atomic Energy Community and the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic on 7 May 1990 made during its meeting of 21 October 1993 in Bratislava on certain types of live fresh water fish.

I hereby would like to confirm that the Community agrees to this recommendation and in consequence makes the following amendments to the Interim Agreement and to the Europe Agreement:

    (i) Two new sentences shall be added after the first sentence of Article 17 of the Interim Agreement and to Article 24 of the Europe Agreement as follows:

'The fishery products originating in the Czech Republic listed in Annex XVa shall benefit from 1 January to 31 December 1994 from the reduction of Community customs duties provided in that Annex within the limits of the amounts therein contained. The fishery products originating in the Community listed in Annex XVb shall benefit from 1 January to 31 December 1994 from the reduction of Czech Republic customs duties provided in that Annex within the limits of the amounts contained therein. Both parties shall examine before 31 October 1994 the treatment to be applied to these concessions in subsequent periods.`

(ii) An Annex XVa and an Annex XVb in the form annexed to this exchange of letters shall be added to the Interim Agreement and to the Europe Agreement.

I should be obliged if you would confirm the agreement of the Czech Republic to the above amendments to the Interim Agreement and to the Europe Agreement.

Please accept, Sir, the assurance of my highest consideration.
