    No 101/2003

    of 26 September 2003

    amending Annex I (Veterinary and phytosanitary matters) to the EEA Agreement

    THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

    Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as amended by the Protocol adjusting the Agreement on the European Economic Area, hereinafter referred to as "the Agreement", and in particular Article 98 thereof,

    Whereas:

    (1) Annex I to the Agreement was amended by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 66/2003 of 20 June 2003(1).

    (2) Commission Decision 2002/616/EC of 22 July 2002 to authorise France to apply the requirements of Council Directive 64/433/EEC to certain slaughterhouses which handle not more than 2000 livestock units per year(2), is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

    (3) Commission Decision 2002/657/EC of 12 August 2002 implementing Council Directive 96/23/EC concerning the performance of analytical methods and the interpretation of results(3), as corrected by OJ L 239, 6.9.2002, p. 66, is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

    (4) Commission Regulation (EC) No 1802/2002 of 10 October 2002 correcting Regulation (EC) No 1282/2002 amending Annexes to Council Directive 92/65/EEC laying down animal health requirements governing trade in and imports into the Community of animals, semen, ova and embryos not subject to animal health requirements laid down in specific Community rules referred to in Annex A(1) to Directive 90/425/EEC(4), is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

    (5) Commission Decision 2002/907/EC of 15 November 2002 temporarily recognising the surveillance network system for bovine holdings introduced in France under Council Directive 64/432/EEC(5), is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

    (6) This Decision is not to apply to Iceland and Liechtenstein,

    HAS DECIDED AS FOLLOWS:

    Article 1

    Chapter I of Annex I to the Agreement shall be amended as follows:

    1. The following indent shall be added in points 9 (Council Directive 92/65/EEC) in Part 4.1 and 15 (Council Directive 92/65/EEC) in part 8.1:

    "- 32002 R 1802: Commission Regulation (EC) No 1802/2002 of 10 October 2002 (OJ L 274, 11.10.2002, p. 21)."

    2. Under the heading "ACTS OF WHICH THE EFTA STATES AND THE EFTA SURVEILLANCE AUTHORITY SHALL TAKE DUE ACCOUNT", the following point shall be inserted after point 53 (Commission Decision 2002/544/EC) in part 4.2:

    "54. 32002 D 0907: Commission Decision 2002/907/EC of 15 November 2002 temporarily recognising the surveillance network system for bovine holdings introduced in France under Council Directive 64/432/EEC (OJ L 313, 16.11.2002, p. 32)."

    3. The following point shall be inserted after point 43 (Commission Decision 2002/226/EC) in part 6.2:

    "44. 32002 D 0616: Commission Decision 2002/616/EC of 22 July 2002 to authorise France to apply the requirements of Council Directive 64/433/EEC to certain slaughterhouses which handle not more than 2000 livestock units per year (OJ L 196, 25.7.2002, p. 61)."

    4. The following point shall be inserted after point 18 (Commission Decision 2002/1003/EC) in part 7.2:

    "19. 32002 D 0657: Commission Decision 2002/657/EC of 12 August 2002 implementing Council Directive 96/23/EC concerning the performance of analytical methods and the interpretation of results (OJ L 221, 17.8.2002, p. 8), as corrected by OJ L 239, 6.9.2002, p. 66."

    Article 2

    The texts of Regulation (EC) No 1802/2002 and Decisions 2002/616/EC, 2002/657/EC, as corrected by OJ L 239, 6.9.2002, p. 66, and 2002/907/EC in the Norwegian language, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union, shall be authentic.

    Article 3

    This Decision shall enter into force on 27 September 2003, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the Agreement have been made to the EEA Joint Committee(6).

    Article 4

    This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
