European Policy Network on the Education of Children and Young People with a Migrant Background

1.   Objectives and description

The purpose of this call is to strengthen cross-European collaboration between high level decision makers, academics and practitioners for raising the educational attainment of children and young people from a migrant background. The call aims to support the establishment of a European network to analyse, develop and exchange policy and practice in the area.

It should address the issues raised by the November 2009 Council conclusions on the education of children from a migrant background and stimulate high-level cooperation between Member State policy makers responsible for social inclusion through education, including cooperation between authorities in the countries of origin and host countries. The network should actively stimulate transnational cooperation primarily at governmental level, but also at the level of experts and practitioners.

2.   Eligible applicants

This call for proposals is open to:

ministries of education,

other public bodies,

research centres and universities,

foundations,

associations.

Applications must be submitted by a legal person. Applicants must submit a copy of the applicant organisation’s articles of association and official certificate of legal registration.

Applications from legal entities established in one of the following countries are eligible:

EU Member States,

EFTA countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland,

candidate countries: Turkey, Croatia.

3.   Budget and duration

The framework agreement will last from 2012 until 2014.

The total budget earmarked for the co-financing of this network amounts to EUR 500 000 for 2012. Financial assistance from the Commission cannot exceed 75 % of the total eligible costs.

The maximum duration of projects is 36 months.

4.   Deadline

Applications must be sent to the Commission no later than 14 October 2011.
