The European Parliament,

having regard to the Commission proposal to the Council (COM(2008)0405),

having regard to the proposal for a Council decision (08127/2009),

having regard to the Protocol amending the Agreement on maritime transport between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and the Government of the People's Republic of China, of the other part (13698/2008),

having regard to Article 80(2) and Article 300(2), first subparagraph, first sentence, of the EC Treaty,

having regard to Article 300(3), first subparagraph, of the EC Treaty, pursuant to which the Council consulted Parliament (C7-0030/2009),

having regard to Rules 55, 90(8) and 46(1) of its Rules of Procedure,

having regard to the report of the Committee on Transport and Tourism (A7-0002/2009),

1.

Approves the conclusion of the Protocol amending the agreement;

2.

Instructs its President to forward its position to the Council and to the Commission and to the governments and parliaments of the Member States and the People's Republic of China.
