Official Journal 225 E , 08/08/2000 P. 0179 - 0179
WRITTEN QUESTION E-2595/99 by Daniel Hannan (PPE-DE) to the Commission (11 January 2000) Subject: Support for IGC report What was the nature, financial and material, of the support provided by (a) the British Government and (b) the Commission to the Von Weizsäcker-Dehaene-Simon Group while they were drafting their report on the IGC? Answer given by Mr Barnier on behalf of the Commission (25 January 2000) The Commission has no information regarding any possible financial or material support provided by the British government to the group Von-Weizsäcker Dehaene Simon. In order to prepare its report, the group held four meetings in Brussels. For these four meetings, the Commission financed the travel expenses to Brussels, the hotel expenses in Brussels when required, and the luncheons. The Commission also financed the fees of the group's rapporteur and provided secretariat support.
