Notice from the Government of the Republic of Cyprus concerning Directive 94/22/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the conditions for granting and using authorisations for the prospection, exploration and production of hydrocarbons

NOTICE ANNOUNCING THE SECOND LICENSING ROUND OFFSHORE CYPRUS CONCERNING THE AUTHORISATION FOR HYDROCARBONS EXPLORATION

In accordance with Article 3(2)(a) of Directive 94/22/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 1994 on the conditions for granting and using authorisations for the prospection, exploration and production of hydrocarbons (1), the Republic of Cyprus invites all interested persons to apply for hydrocarbon exploration licences and subsequent hydrocarbon exploitation licences in respect of certain acreage in the Exclusive Economic Zone of Cyprus. Applications may be submitted within 90 days of the date of publication of this notice in the Official Journal of the European Union. Applications reaching the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism after the above mentioned period has elapsed will not be taken into consideration.

Applications for hydrocarbon exploration licences and subsequent hydrocarbon exploitation licences shall be submitted to:

The decision on the applications for this second licensing round offshore Cyprus will be made by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus and it is expected to take place within six months from the date of submission of applications referred to in this notice.

The granting of authorisations by the Council of Ministers, which is the competent authority, will be made without prejudice to the provisions of Article 3(6) of Directive 94/22/EC.
