Council Joint Action of 14 December 2000 supplementing Joint Action 1999/189/CFSP concerning a contribution by the European Union to the reestablishment of a viable police force in Albania (2000/798/CFSP) THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 14 thereof, Whereas: (1) The Council decided in Joint Action 1999/189/CFSP(1) that the European Union should contribute to the reestablishment of a viable police force in Albania. (2) By Decision 1999/190/CFSP(2), the Council requested the Western European Union (WEU) to implement this action. (3) The Council gave its agreement in principle to eventual direct management by the European Union of the Multinational Advisory Police Element in Albania, which it had entrusted to the WEU and instructed the competent bodies to prepare draft decisions to ensure the continuation of the assignment in the interim and to establish the conditions for its management within the European Union at the appropriate time. (4) It is appropriate to provide additional financing to continue the implementation of Joint Action 1999/189/CFSP until 31 May 2001, HAS ADOPTED THIS JOINT ACTION: Article 1 1. The financial reference amount to cover the operational expenditure to which the implementation of Joint Action 1999/189/CFSP gives rise shall be EUR 720000 for the year 2001. 2. This amount is additional to that provided for in Joint Action 1999/189/CFSP as supplemented by Joint Action 2000/388/CFSP. Article 2 This Joint Action shall be notified to the WEU in accordance with the conclusions adopted by the Council on 14 May 1996 on the transmission to the WEU of documents of the European Union. Article 3 This Joint Action shall enter into force on the date of its adoption. It shall apply until 31 May 2001. Article 4 This Joint Action shall be published in the Official Journal.
