tot wijziging van Verordening (EG) nr. 2368/2002 van de Raad tot uitvoering van de Kimberleyprocescertificering voor de internationale handel in ruwe diamant

DE COMMISSIE VAN DE EUROPESE GEMEENSCHAPPEN,

Gelet op het Verdrag tot oprichting van de Europese Gemeenschap,

Gelet op Verordening (EG) nr. 2368/2002 van de Raad van 20 december 2002 tot uitvoering van de Kimberleyprocescertificering voor de internationale handel in ruwe diamant(1), laatstelijk gewijzigd bij Verordening (EG) nr. 1214/2003 van de Commissie(2), inzonderheid op artikel 20,

Overwegende hetgeen volgt:

(1) Artikel 20 van Verordening (EG) nr. 2368/2002 bepaalt dat de lijst van deelnemers aan de Kimberleyprocescertificering, met inbegrip van WTO-leden en afzonderlijke douanegebieden die voldoen aan de vereisten van de Kimberleyprocescertificering, kan worden gewijzigd.

(2) De voorzitter van de Kimberleyprocescertificering heeft in een notitie van 31 juli 2003 een herziene lijst opgenomen van deelnemers aan de Kimberleyprocescertificering. De herziening van de lijst, die geldt vanaf 1 september 2003, betreft met name de toevoeging als deelnemer van Kroatië en de schrapping van de lijst van Algerije, Brazilië, Burkina Faso, Cyprus, Filipijnen, Gabon, Ghana, Kameroen, de Democratische Volksrepubliek Korea, Maleisië, Mali, Malta, Mexico, Noorwegen, Swaziland, Togo, Tsjechië, Tunesië, Turkije en Vietnam. Bijlage II dient derhalve dienovereenkomstig te worden gewijzigd,

HEEFT DE VOLGENDE VERORDENING VASTGESTELD:

Artikel 1

Bijlage II bij Verordening (EG) nr. 2368/2002 wordt vervangen door de bijlage bij deze verordening.

Artikel 2

Deze verordening treedt in werking op 1 september 2003.

Deze verordening is verbindend in al haar onderdelen en is rechtstreeks toepasselijk in elke lidstaat.
