    Subject: Purchase of a motor vehicle in EU Member States

    What is the position regarding the purchase of a motor vehicle in an EU Member State for use whilst living in that Member State?

    Answer given by Mr Monti on behalf of the Commission (19 November 1997)

    The Commission would ask the Honourable Member to clarify the subject of his question in order for it to be able to provide a specific answer.

    It would refer the Honourable Member to its communication on procedures for the type-approval and registration of vehicles previously registered in another Member State ((OJ C 143, 15.5.1996. )).
